Music Revolution & Genre Evolution: Episode 1 - Metal

So I thought I'd share some of my favorite music genres in small episodes. First out - Metal. Always have in mind; a developing genre will develop into even more sub-genres.

Metal first developed from the genre 'hard-rock' in the 1960's to a huge amount of sub-genres such as 'Death metal', 'Gothic metal' and 'Love metal' to mention some.
It started to grow in all ours England and spread  its branches during centuries like diseases.

In 1970 you had bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy who made out the base for bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica in the 80's. In the era in which the latest bands played you find newborn sub-genres as Trash metal, Power metal, Black metal and Death metal. I guess this era was the absolute key period, this was the period of real change so to speak.
Myself would consider these bands from the 1980's still hard rock, some are turning light metal.
The result from the 80's is well presented in the 1990's. New Genres formed such as Gothic metal, Love metal, Symphonic metal and Rap-metal. Bands like In Flames, Slipknot, Nightwish, Slayer and HIM are just awesome.
There are of course thousands and thousands of Metal band, I just can't be bothered. Like my Heavy metal God - I won't give a fuck.

Time-line:
1970:
Led Zeppelin - Kashmir
1980:
Metallica - Enter Sandman
1990 - 2000's :

Slipknot - Vermillion
In Flames - Only for the weak
Nightwish - Nemo
