Heineken Open'er Festival: Update

PEOPLE PEOPLE! I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE!
Heineken Open'er Festival was totaly worth the wait! It was the craziest, loving, sharing event EVÁ!

After a nine hour boat trip to Gdynia, Poland, all five of us went clubbing in Sopot. We went to a beutiful beach and I can just confirm that Sopot has an active nightlife, It was awesome! The next day was the first day of Open'er..

So, Who did we see? What did I think about it? and What happened? during these days.

  • Twoo Door Cinema Club - Quite good songs. The show was nothing special, just a few random guys on a stage. A freak tried to start a moshpit several times and it pissed me off. I mean come on, TDCC doesn't really play that kind of material.
  • Coldplay - Soooo much better live than I've ever though. I'm not really a Coldplay fan, but the voice, sound, light-show and atmosphere gave me goosebumps. Olga lifted me onto her shoulders and I saw nothing but small blue heads (due to the scene light) from the place we stood and hundreds of meters behind us. That was an extraordinary feeling.
  • Simian Mobile Disco - A Electro House remix team that really presented themselves as the two nerd Gods they are. The beat and sound was just speed, awesome dance music! Even though they just stood and fixed with some speakers and buttons during the performance I really didn't care due to the force to dance that pumped trough the body. All people in the crowd went crazy.

Haven't heard them yet? Check it out on youtube: http://youtu.be/Ylu0ybj7DIg (Much better live)

    • Pogodno - Heard them just because we wanted to stand in the front, we were waiting for Foals. Sang most of theis songs in Polish, did a lot of jokes, in Polish... Everything was in polish. Lydia and myself stood like freaks and tried to not look too stupid. Just awkward.
    • Brodka - A different scene set up with neon yellow red-deers, I really liked it. A person full of energy, even after the rain finally made them stop they made it without the instruments, just singing. A great love to the audience and as a response the audience showed them their love back with a huge applause. I touched her, just saying ;) She sings in Polish, but good music is good music.
             Check her out! http://youtu.be/AoIPQ6M2AEAhttp://youtu.be/-ycOABMpIyE

    • Pulp - One of the best shows I've ever seen. The unplanned rain just made a great effect. I don't know what else to say, no complaining.
    • Foals - A band that makes awesome music, but they didn't do much of a show. That disappointed me deeply. But, i touched Yannis Philippakis, I sort of accidentally grabbed him..
    • Kate Nash - Just a quick check in into tent stage, she was rocking the place the few seconds I watched.
    • Prince - Once again a quick check. He is the Prince of pop, funk, rock and R&B. I really don't listen to this guy, but you can really see that he's all into it. I guess the people who adore him had an awesome time in their life.
    • Gooral - Played when we were queuing for big boy. A different sound: Traditional Polish music mixed with dubstep and D'n'B. Truly enjoyed the performance. Beatboxing, traditional suits with violin and mix tables.
Here is a song by Gooral (It was much more alive live) http://youtu.be/qX29A4VhCJk
    • Big Boy - Was one hour late due to some complications, the crowd was pissed off. The show was like every other hip hop performances. They finally succeeded to turn the whole audience to a positive side when "Shutterbugg" started to play trough the speakers. Was it worth the wait? Yes, but just almost.
    • The Black Tapes - I guess it was good? They didn't really make a noise for their presentation, I barely remember them. (We were queuing for M.I.A and Deadmaus5)
    • The Wombats - The performance was catchy. They were most certainly not the best band on earth according to me but in some way i liked their personality. Good.
    • The Strokes - I think they were great, but under the circumstances I couldn't hear a thing, I didn't want to hear a thing.. There was this girl right behind me. She was talking in her phone all the time until the strokes when up on stage. Then she screamed like a pig, in pulsing periods, right into my ear, driving me nuts.. Not only she did that, she also buried me in her smelly armpits when she raised her hands towards the band, rubbing her fu**ing sweat on me. It didn't smell like viola that's for sure. She later leaned on me and did put her freeeeezing cold fingers in my neck. And once again screamed right into my ears. She was ugly too....  The singer from the Strokes must had seen me, the only one that didn't enjoy the music at all (as I was busy to disengage the ears from my brain), he took my hand and placed himself behind the fence, That was, something. Thank you for the sympathize, I guess!
    • M.I.A - Everything was crazy! The performance, much better live than recorded. Everybody in the crowd wanted to be up front. It was so crowded that you couldn't stand nor breathe normal. I had to touch her, and so I did. M.I.A was dragging some people upstage with her and two of the twenty'ish people she chose was Olga and Kasia. Not only they enjoyed their time on stage with one of their favorite artists, Paulina and myself enjoyed their time aswell but behind the security fence. It felt like I was just: 'Just, go my child' *waving happy*. Later we saw them crowdsurf. Jolly People <3
    • Deadmau5 - The last performance we enjoyed at Open'er. The music and rythm pumped trough my body, leaving no tissue untouched. We were in the front, of course, dancing for hours and watched him change heads. Awesome music, awesome lightshow, awesome everything. He made a small round trough the crowd, and I touched deadmau5. I Touched Deadmau5. AHHHHW! I also bought a Deadmau5 T-shirt, you can see that one later.
We stood in the front most of the time, just one or two exceptions. I had an awesome time with awesome friends, maybe we go back next year? This was actually my first real festival, and my first time outside Sweden (Denmark and Finland doesn't count). Anyway we're thinking about it, hopefully we do, because Heineken Open'er Festival (HOF) was something special.
Now I have to wrap the Heineken beer i bought to my boyfriend. See yah dudes!
